Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR)

Your Club has adopted the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) framework to enable members to establish or improve their Club Rating.

What is DUPR?

DUPR is an accurate and reliable skill level rating system. All players, regardless of their age, gender, location, or skill, are rated on the same scale, based on their game results.

DUPR is free to register, and anyone can have a rating. Individuals, clubs, leagues and tournaments can use DUPR.

For individual use, you simply play a game, record the score and the names of the players, and DUPR starts calculating the skill levels of all participants. (All players must have a DUPR profile (account), and all players must verify the score when asked by DUPR.)

The more games you record in DUPR, the more accurate and more consistent your skill level rating.

DUPR's rating algorithm uses a player’s last 60 eligible games to calculate a skill level. The rating is based on several factors: How many points did you score in a game? Did you win or lose? Was it a recreational game score or a more competitive league or tournament score?

DUPR is being adopted as the official and exclusive rating system for Pickleball.com, and all its subsidiaries -- the PPA Tour, PickleballTournaments.com, and PickleballBrackets.com. This will remove the confusion and inconsistencies caused by having multiple rating systems.

Why is SAPC using DUPR?

SAPC has adopted the DUPR system to use as an internal club rating system rather than holding rating clinics.  SAPC will help club members to achieve club ratings by regularly hosting DUPR play sessions.  The aim is to allow all members to enjoy playing pickleball with partners and other players who have similar skills and experience. Registering with DUPR and recording game scores on a periodic basis will allow members to have a fair and accurate skill level rating.

How do I sign up for a DUPR play session?

  • Press the Register button in a club email inviting you to a session, OR
  • Find a session in the Ratings Session calendar, open it and register.

If a session is full, add your name to the waitlist as there may be cancellations.

See Reserved Play for reservation and cancelation tips.

For club DUPR play sessions, the club will enter the game scores for all participants.

Will all club play sessions be DUPR sessions?

No, most club sessions are not DUPR sessions, but the Club does schedule DUPR Play sessions for members to establish ratings.  We also schedule DUPR Play sessions for players who are not yet rated at 3.0 or above so they can move up in skill levels and, thereby, play more games.

See SAPC DUPR Play FAQ for more on this.
